Reading update from Mrs. Windriver

We are in the swing of things during our 4th grade reading block. It's been great to have your children again. This past week we started our reading groups and took notes on our first set of Latin/Greek roots. As a reminder, your child will not have spelling with me this year - this will occur in Mrs. Mori's class.
The students got started in Edmodo this past week as well. This is the 2nd year for your kiddo so more often than not, they'll be able to answer any Edmodo questions you may have. Additionally, there is an Edmodo tab on my blog with information. A couple of quick points, however: You will never need the group code. If you are being asked for it, you're not logging in to the correct spot. You must log in by clicking the green "Login" button on the top right-hand side of the main page.  There is a parent code on your child's Edmodo page if you'd like to follow their assignments/grades etc.
If you're interested in how your child is doing with their reading assignments, please check their Edmodo page as it's all there.
We have been learning about character traits, context clues and inference. These are all elements we use in reading throughout the year, whether we are reading fiction or non-fiction.
**Please ensure your child is reading 20 minutes each night. This is important to your child's reading success. This is the only homework they have from me (Edmodo is done at school).
