April 25-28, 2016

Hello!

This week the 4th graders will continue testing with the SBAC English/Language Arts Parts 1 & 2 on Wednesday and Thursday.

In Projects, we will finish work on our constellation presentation that was began last week. We will also return to Social Studies as we cover a Civics Unit. The main topics covered this week involve the three branches of government, citizenship, rules and laws. We will end the week with guest speaker, Nevada Highway Patrol Officer Anderson. He will be discussing common laws that are enforced in regards to keeping people and properties safe.

Have a wonderful week!

Testing Snacks and Water

Hello Fourth Grade Families,
I sent an e-mail out a few days ago with a sign up to bring snacks and water for our kids on the days they are taking tests. I haven't had anyone sign up yet (maybe the e-mail didn't go through?) so here is the link for the sign-ups: http://www.signupgenius.com/go/20f0f4ca9ae2ba2f58-testing
Let's give these kids a good start to their morning and some snacks to keep them going through these tests. Thanks all!

April 11-14

Hello!

This week we will continue preparing for the Smarter Balance test. The testing schedule was sent out last week. The fourth graders will have their first test on April 18th.

As a reminder, headphones are needed for the test. Please consider sending headphones to school for your child to use. As mentioned by Mrs. Neal, the school will provide headphones for students that do not bring their own.

Have a wonderful week,

Mrs. Zimmerman

Reminder

Hello all!
Just a reminder, if you haven't already, please think about sending some headphones to school for your student to use for the Smarter Balanced tests which we will begin in two weeks. If you don't have any, the school has some that your student may borrow. Thanks!

April 4-7

Hello Everyone!

I hope Spring Break was refreshing and enjoyable for you all! I am sure everyone is excited to come back to school.

This week we have a lot going on in projects. We will be looking at what causes day and night, how the sun makes shadows, and the appearance of constellations in the night sky.

Many of these are using hands on activities which require some extra materials. I am hoping that students can bring in a few items to help keep the groups smaller. I am including the list of supplies below as well as a goal number for each item.

  • Flashlights (10)
  • Flexible tape measures (10) - like the ones used in sewing

Many of these can already be found around the home, please do not feel like you must go out and buy anything. Anything sent in will be returned so please clearly label the item so it can be returned to the correct family when we are finished with them. We will begin using the items on Tuesday.

Thank you for everything you do to help our class!
