Reading update with Mrs. Luyt 5/21-5/24/18

Enjoy your long weekend and Happy Memorial Day! We only have 7 more days of school left. This year has flown by! 

Reading:  Last week, students had their final scholastic assignment while I reassessed their final reading levels for the year. Students also received their final spelling lists of high-frequency spelling words. The final spelling test will be on 5/31/18. Next week, students will have assignments that cover some of the standards we have covered this year. I will be finishing up with assessments of reading levels.

We started a boys verses girls point system for the last two weeks that I have the 4th graders. The boys all sit at tables together, as do the girls. They earn a point for behavior and the group that has the most points on 5/31/18, will be getting a special treat and will have lunch with me on Thursday. They are all very excited about this and have been doing a great job!

Homework: Read for 20 minutes a day. Study spelling lists for test on 5/31/18.

We finally finished up SBAC last week. Thank you for all of your support during the testing!

Reading:  Last week after testing, students reviewed main idea and the author's point/claim. Next week, students will have a scholastic assignment while I reassess their final reading levels for the year. Students will also receive their final spelling lists of high-frequency spelling words. The final spelling test will be on 5/31/18.

Homework: Read for 20 minutes a day. Study spelling lists for test on 5/31/18.

Update with Mrs. Luyt 5/7-5/10/18

Happy Mother's Day to all of the moms, grandmas, and aunts out there! I hope you have a wonderful day tomorrow.

This last week, students completed the SBAC Math tests.

Monday and Tuesday of next week, students will have the SBAC English Language Arts tests. Please make sure students get a good night sleep on Sunday and Monday nights. We will have snacks ready for them on Monday and Tuesday.

Math update with Mrs. Neal

Hello all!
Testing is going well. Tomorrow the 4th graders will be taking part 1 of the Smarter Balanced math test and Tuesday will be part 2. Then the following Monday and Tuesday they will take part 1 and part 2 of the ELA test. Also as a reminder, there is no homework during testing, so the math fact logs will not be checked, however it is not a bad idea to continue practicing math facts to keep the habit up.

Update with Mrs. Luyt 4/30-5/3/18

SBAC English Language testing will be on 5/14 and 5/15. 

Reading:  Last week we reviewed text structure and took the ACT Aspire test. I am proud of how hard they all worked. Next week, we will practice the SBAC questions for our upcoming SBAC English Language test. 

During testing weeks there will be NO HOMEWORK!
