This week in math.....

4th grade- Back to fractions we go! We are going to be reviewing fractions and learning about finding a common denominator in order to add and subtract fractions with unlike denominators.

I hope everyone had a wonderful long weekend. Tests will be going home this week please send back and sign!
This week in all three grades we are starting to prepare for the Smarter Balanced Test.We will be solving practice problems in class in order for the students to be prepared and feel confident. If anyone has any questions about the test please don't hesitate to ask. The test will be taken the last few weeks in April.
For those of you who I have contacted about tutoring we will start that Tuesday morning at 7:30. Monday and Wednesdays are 3rd and 5th grade and Tuesday and Thursdays are for 4th grade!
In projects this week students will be sharing their wonderful websites please ask them to show it to you! They are fabulous. We are starting a new program called Adopt a Pilot I will be sending home a little note about the program.

What did the sun go to school? A: To get brighter!
3rd- This week we are still working on fractions. We are comparing fractions, using benchmark fractions and understanding whole numbers as a fraction, We will be taking a pretest on Wednesday and having a test over fractions, partial sum, partial difference, and word problems on Thursday.
4th- This week we are learning how to add and subtract fractions with like and unlike denominators. Thursday students will have a quiz over equivalent fractions, decomposing fractions, and adding and subtracting fractions.
5th- This week we are still working with dividing fractions. Wednesday we will have a pretest and on Thursday we will have a test over adding,subtracting, multiplying, dividing fractions and fraction word problems.
Projects- This week we are finishing our websites which we will share with all of the parents. There are some awesome websites I am so proud of my students they have worked so hard on this project!

Projects- The students are busy building their websites! This is their last week to finish them. We will email you links so everyone will be able to see their great work. Remember vocabulary test is this week February 5th!.
